How do I stop Claude Code from auto-compacting (and losing context)?

Turn off auto-compact in /config (the Auto-compact toggle), or set "autoCompactEnabled": false in your settings file, or launch with DISABLE_AUTO_COMPACT=1 . That stops the automatic summary, but it doesn't give you a bigger context window, so you still need a plan for the moment the window fills.…
