How does a new model earn a permanent spot in your agent?

My agent is one reasoning call up front, then a long tail of short tool calls, mostly lookups and reformatting. A new model showed up under the key that tail already uses, and going by the announcement it's aimed at calls like those, lots of them back to back. So far I've only run throwaway batches…
