Lack of Dynamic Tool Calling in Gemini - How do you work around this limitation?

I created a skill to handle updating a tracker spreadsheet that I have in Google Sheets. It works great provided the Google Drive integration is enabled in that Gemini session. But, when I create a new chat to Gemini and ask it to do something requiring that skill, it invokes the skill, then fails…
