Why is ChatGPT gotten so extremely moderated by violence?

I can't even write a prompt for a story without having the AI modify it because I didn't make the prompt squeaky clean. Just the mention of threats alone in a fictional scenario gets it all worked up hahaha. Is there any way around this?
